A new leaked screenshot shows what appears to be the first look at 2017’s Assassin’s Creed game, titled Assassin’s Creed Origins.
True to the rumours that circulated aboutthe game last year, it appears that the next Assassin’s Creed game will be set in Egypt. While the style of game world in the screenshot hints that this is a definite possibility, the most convincing evidence appears in the top left hand corner of the shot.
The quest objective appears to say “Follow Shadya to Khenut’s villa”. Khenut was an Egyptian queen, who ruled Egypt over 4000 years ago. The name of the quest appears to be “Assassinate the Crocodile”.
In addition to the information gleaned from the quest details, the screenshot also shows the game’s protagonist controlling a boat. Boats were a popular feature in both Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue. While this boat appears much smaller than the large ships fans have previously been able to sail, it’s possible that larger vessels will be available in the game.
The game will reportedly be called Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and while there’s no news of a release date yet, it’s highly likely the game will be available later this year.
Ubisoft have not commented on the leak at the time of writing this post.
