Overkill Software has announced that Payday 2 will be getting its own VR mode as well as a brand new Ultimate Edition for players to purchase.
Payday 2’s upcoming VR Mode is exactly what it says on the tin, it’s a virtual reality mode that’ll put players right in the middle of their own bank heist. This mode will launch for free for all Payday 2 owners. A beta is planned for later this year.
A teaser trailer for the VR mode shows players using the HTC Vive’s motion controllers as well as the Vive’s full-body tracking capabilities to hide behind cover, order hostages, shoot weapons, fill their swag bags, and much more.
Apparently both VR and standard PC players will be able to play in the same game together, which is interesting.
Overkill also announced that Payday 2 will be getting an Ultimate Edition which will bring together the main game as well as nearly all of the game’s post-launch DLC. This $45 edition will include over 55 heists, 18 characters, 77 primary and 51 secondary weapons, and 82 melee weapons.
The Ultimate Edition launches on June 8. From here any updates that launch for Payday 2 will be completely free. At the same time however, all DLC purchases will no longer be available. The good news is that all DLC is now 85% off.
