Good news for fans of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – it appears that the beloved game is getting a standalone release. The game is available at the moment – but only for customers who purchase the fairly expensive Legacy Edition of last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
The title was outed by GameFly, a video-game rental service, and the listing was taken down shortly after appearing online. It seemed to indicate that standalone version of Infinity Ward’s classic (which was remastered by Raven Software) will come to PS4 first, on June 20th, while owners of other platforms will have to wait another month.
It will be interesting to see if Activision charge a full (Captain) price for the game, considering that as an add-on to Infinity Warfare, it was essentially an extra £20. Considering that fans were recently unhappy at the latest DLC pack being more expensive than it’s release price for the original game, it would be an unpopular move.
This is the latest in a long line of Call of Duty news: last week we had the trailer for this year’s entry into the franchise Call of Duty: WWII, and today we got the leaked details for the rumoured Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombie Chronicles.
