Zack Snyder Drops From “Justice League” to Tend to Family

Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Zack Snyder has announced he will be stepping down from the Justice League movie. Zack and his wife, Deborah Snyder, who is a producer on the film, are leaving the movie to focus on healing their family following a family tragedy that happened in March.

Snyder said speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”

The situation to cause this departure is that of the sudden death of his daughter, Autumn Snyder. In March, Autumn took her own life and was kept private at the time. After the tragic event, the movie was put two-week hold so Snyder could deal with the immediate effects of the tragedy.

Warner Brothers Pictures president Toby Emmerich added this comments speaking of the departure: “What they are going through is unimaginable, and my heart — our hearts — go out to them.”

Fellow superhero movie director, Joss Whedon (The Avengers) is being brought in to finish what is left to do with the Justice League. The film is still scheduled for its initial release date of November 17 later this year.
