Welcome to The Indie Fix, where we delve into the exciting world of indie gaming to have a gander at promising works in progress, weird and wonderful freeware offerings, or recently published games that may have slipped under your radar!
For this weeks Indie Fix we’re taking things down a notch and kicking back with That Blooming Feeling.
In That Blooming Feeling, you take control of a cheerful little water droplet as it emerges from an oasis in the middle of the desert. After walking around for a bit, trying out different controls to see what’s what, it’s likely the player will happen upon the ability to burst the little droplet person and spill it all over the ground.
After the initial sense of horror at watching the little guy explode the game’s core mechanic presents itself. Life starts to emerge from the soaked ground forming plants and weeds which grow larger and larger towards the sun. This is ultimately what the game involves, spreading life across the desert, interacting with the little creatures you come across.
You can speed around as a ball of water, grab and shake trees to free the seeds held up top and watch as seasons unfold and the landscape changes. That Blooming Feeling aims to take the player out of their mind for 10 minutes or so, offering a quaint and pleasant world to play around in.
The joy comes from watching the landscape evolve in front of you. You can plan out how you want things to grow and watch as different flora extends towards the sun. The game is currently in development with Tots’ Team working away on it. There is a playable demo available to download here, with the option to tip the devs if you like the game.
