Mojang and Telltale Games have announced that Minecraft: Story Mode is getting a Second Season which is set to arrive on all platforms this July.
Minecraft: Story Mode – Season 2 is currently in development and is set to premier with Episode 1: Hero in Residence from July 11 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.
Season 2 is set to see our fabled characters return as Jesse and the gang star in another five-part, narrative-driven, episodic game. This time however, players choices in Season 1 will carry over to Season 2 potentially altering the entire game. On the other hand, Season 2 will also be accessible to newcomers as there’s no need to have played the first season.
Season 2 will also contain a Crowd Play feature letting friends and family, as well as audiences, engage with the adventure by helping decide the outcome and direction of the story.
Here’s the plot for Season 2:
“Now that Jesse and the gang have vanquished the Wither Storm, saved the world, and become totally super famous heroes, life has gotten a bit more…complicated. With more responsibilities and less time for adventure, old friendships have started to fade — at least until Jesse’s hand gets stuck in a creepy gauntlet that belongs to an ancient underwater temple. Together with old pals and new comrades alike, Jesse embarks on a brand new journey filled with tough choices, good times, and at least one temperamental llama.”
Season 2 is considered a completely standalone title from both the main Minecraft game (just like Season 1) and Season 1 itself. A retail version on disc will become available this fall.
