Some exciting things are coming to Pokémon Go this summer and Niantic Labs are putting preparations in place by temporarily closing-down all Gyms across the globe.
Niantic Labs has already revealed that Pokemon Go is set to see its first live event in Chicago as well as another in-game event, the Solstice Event, later this summer that’ll see more Fire- and Ice-type Pokémon in the world. But it looks like something bigger is happening.
The Solstice Event is set to take place between June 13 and June 20, but during that time, on June 19, all Gyms will be closed and all Pokémon residing in those Gyms will be returned to their trainers.
Interestingly, the tickets for Pokémon Fest, which is the live-event being held in Chicago, are being put on sale on June 19. Whether it has any correlation or not is just speculative at the moment, but what we do know for sure is that things are about to be shaken up in Pokémon Go.
In preparation for some exciting new features, we’ll be temporarily disabling Gyms starting June 19. Stay tuned for more information.

There’s currently no word on when the Gyms will be back in operation or what, if anything, will be different.
I guess we’ll have to stay tuned for more minor text changes.
