After months and months of waiting from the Overwatch community, Doomfist is finally making his way to Blizzard’s overly popular shooter. Doomfist joins the PTR (public test region) today.
The good news here is that by joining the PTR instead of being teased and talked about for a few more weeks, we can expect the newest character to come to the public in the next few weeks. PTR updates typically remain in the PTR for a week or two before they’re added to the full game.
Akande Ogundimu (I’ll let you try to pronounce that on your own time) or Doomfist, is an offensive character intended to help push objectives and deal out big damage. According to his profile page: Doomfist’s cybernetics make him a highly-mobile, powerful frontline fighter. In addition to dealing ranged damage with his Hand Cannon, Doomfist can slam the ground, knock enemies into the air and off balance, or charge into the fray with his Rocket Punch. When facing a tightly packed group, Doomfist leaps out of view, then crashes down to earth with a spectacular Meteor Strike.
We’ll follow along with Doomfist while he’s in the PTR and we’ll follow up with him as he is added to the main game for everyone. The sad news of all this is that Doomfist is not voiced by Terry Crews. Shucks. Anyway, check out the animated short to learn more about Doomfist.
