Dirty Bomb, the free-to-play shooter from Splash Damage, is getting a new lease of life following the developers acquisition of the publishing rights for the game.
While Dirty Bomb had a pretty impressive launch and as a whole was a fantastic multiplayer shooter, if slightly unremarkable from others out there. Since then however, it’s fallen into the abyss of free-to-play shooters on Steam, but not for much longer.
This past Feburary, Splash Damage acquired the publishing rights to Dirty Bomb from Nexon, regaining control over the game and starting work on some pretty great content updates.
First on the list of updates for the game is the addition of a brand new Mercenary called “Turtle” and a brand new map titled “Vault”. Turtle is a combat engineer that comes with a deployable shield. His addition to the game comes with a narratively-driven event which players can control the outcome.
Check out a brand new trailer for Turtle below:
In addition, there’s a trailer for the new event, too.
Since February, Splash Damage have tripled the size of their development team, launched a new “EasyAntiCheat” solution, launched two Ranked Seasons, and added more content to the game.
The future of Dirty Bomb is also bright as more unannounced content is incoming, along with casual matchmaking to better balance the game’s experience.
Honestly, it’s been a long time coming, and I’m more than happy to see the game getting a fresh lease of life.
