For Honor Finally Getting Dedicated Servers

Ubisoft have announced that For Honor will be getting its own servers to help deal with the online issues that players have faced since launch. Given that many fans blame these issues for the game’s contracting player base, fans have welcomed the announcement.

Now, the game’s set up means that whenever a player leaves a match the game must pause while it migrates to a new host. Obviously, this is not ideal (talk about disrupting your flow), but more serious issues have also been reported – especially at launch.

Damien Kieken said of the announcement:

“The main reason for us is that we want to improve the stability of the matches on 4v4, and we want to have an architecture that is more long-term, that could help us more in the future for the things we want to do next”.

While the news has been welcomed by fans, it’s clear that the migration to dedicated servers won’t happen for some time. In a roadmap of updates to the game, the dedicated servers appear sufficiently far down the line that fans shouldn’t get too excited yet.
