Castlevania series producer Adi Shankar has revealed that an Assassin’s Creed animated series is in the works and that he’ll be developing the story.
Shankar announced the news on Facebook saying that Ubisoft got in touch with him about the writing role. In the post he wrote about how the first game played a big part in his move to LA to pursue his dream, and now it’s a reality.
“I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.”
Shankar’s latest project, an animated Castlevania series, is due to launch exclusively on Netflix on July 7. Previous projects include producing 2012’s Dredd, as well as several shorts like Power/Rangers and Venom: Truth in Journalism.
Ubisoft themselves are yet to make an official announcement and details surrounding the series are thin right now, tough there’s every possibility that this could be a Netflix series after CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that Ubisoft was in talks with the streaming service.
Here’s hoping it’ll be better than the movie.
