The developers behind Microsoft upcoming charming hand-drawn co-op side-scrolling game, Cuphead, have confirmed that the game is indeed an Xbox One and PC exclusive.
Cuphead is set to launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC on September 29, however for those wondering whether this was one of those limited exclusive periods, we now have a definitive answer for you.
Following a write-up on Games Radar last week, the game’s developers headed over to NeoGAF to clarify some misunderstandings, one of which was whether the game would ever land on other platforms.
When asked whether the game was a lifetime exclusive, the developers replied:
“Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GoG release likely shortly after). There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever).”
They closed their answer with “We own the Cuphead IP”.
While this seems like a definitive answer, there are still some mixed messages coming from the developers. While it’s solely an Xbox One, Windows 10, and eventually PC, Mac, and Linux, title right now, adding that final line does suggest that further down the line, like in a few years perhaps, Cuphead could come to other platforms. Though this is purely speculation at this point.
Simply put, Cuphead is 100% Xbox One and PC exclusive.
