As we continue to look forward to Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere, let us continue our recap of the story so far…
Theon (Ned Stark’s prisoner and adopted son?) convinces Rob to let him travel to the Iron Islands and ask his father, Balon Greyjoy, for assistance. Once there, Theon meets his sister through yet another awkward family moment. Baylon makes Theon swear allegiance to their house or the Starks and betrayal ensues.
Theon, desperate to prove himself, decides to take Winterfell for the Greyjoys. Instead of putting the Stark boys, Bran and Rickon, to death, he finds two farmer boys and burns them alive instead. Bran, Rickon, Hodor, and Osha escape and head north towards the Wall.
Stannis Baratheon meets the Red Witch, Melisandre, and announces he is the one true king. Apparently pulling a flaming sword from the fire entitles you to that role.
Melisandre tells Stannis to give himself to the lord of light if he wants to defeat his brother, Renly. They do it, she pops out a slimy, shadow, wraith thing, Renly gets stabbed through the chest…
Bye bye Renly.
After Renly’s funeral, Lord Balish talks with Margaery Tyrell, Renly’s now widow, and asks if she wants to be Queen, to which she replies “I want to be THE Queen.”
The Night’s Watch envoy that Arya is travelling with gets ambushed. Her and a few others are captured and taken to Herenhall, but not before she saves Jaqen H’ghar from a burning carriage.
Once at the encampment, Arya ends up as a personal servant to Tywin Lannister. He knows shes a girl but he has no clue she is a Stark. Jaqen seeks out Arya and requests she tells him three names of people she wants dead, as payment for saving his life. When he requests the third name, Arya says Jaqen’s name. Being a man of his word, he would have to kill himself. Instead, Arya makes him a deal that if he helps her and her friends escape she will take his name back. When they are free he asks Arya to come with him, she says she can’t so he gives her a coin and tells her to bring it to Braavos and recite the words “Valar Morghulis“.
North of the Wall, Jon and company make it to the Fist of the First Men and find Dragon Glass, Obsidian, buried under the snow. They notice a fire and form a scouting party. They attack a Wildling hunting party and Jon meets Ygritte, his first love. They task him with killing her, he obviously doesn’t and instead gets captured by her and some other Wildlings and brought before the King Beyond the Wall, Mance Rayder.
Meanwhile in the city of Kaarth, Danny gets betrayed and her dragons stolen. She finds them in the hands of Pyat Pree, a wizard and master illusionist that turns out to be working with Xaro Xhoan Daxos. She punishes him by locking him in his own vault and throwing away the key.
Back at the Stark camp, Catelyn makes a decision without Rob and lets Jaime Lannister go under the protection of Brienne of Tarth. Rob decides to marry Talisa Maegyr, a healer that’s been helping the wounded during the war, instead of keeping his oath to Walder Frey.
Stannis marches on King’s Landing by Sea and his entire fleet is burned by “Dragon’s Fire”. The Hound abandon’s his duties to King Joffrey. Tyrion is betrayed by his sister when a knight is ordered to kill him during the battle on Black Water Bay. Just when Stannis thinks he has won, Tywin storms the beach and saves the kingdom. Joffrey makes a decision to marry Margaery Tyrell instead of Sansa.
At the Fist of the First Men, the brothers hear three horns, which means White Walkers. Sam for some reason is spared, as they walk right past him. It is here we find out the threat of the White Walkers is very real.
Part 3 coming soon!
