The August 8th release of Ninja Theory’s deeply atmospheric action adventure title Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is just under a couple of weeks away, but it seems as though the developers want to keep us in suspense as to what’s actually happening to the blue-painted heroine right up until release – as the game’s cryptic new trailer reveals.
In the trailer we follow Senua through a variety of creepy scenes set to some gorgeous ambient orchestral music, while an almost ASMR-level demonic voice – perhaps one of the many voices we’ve heard coursing through Senua’s head previously – muses on the nature of her journey.
While we might not know why she’s making it just yet, Senua’s journey will take her through a wide variety of locales, from old temples, oppressively creepy forests, barren shipwrecks, blazing hellscapes and more.
She’ll also be (presumably) facing off against a wide variety of creatures great and small, including a gigantic, shadow-cloaked humanoid creature and a blood-soaked, greatsword-wielding man wearing a flaming helmet who probably could’ve come straight out of Silent Hill.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be released on PlayStation 4 and PC on August 8th.
