Activision and Bungie have unveiled when the closed beta for their upcoming sequel, Destiny 2, will take place as well as detailing what’ll be included during the test.
The beta is set to kick off in just under two weeks on July 18 on PlayStation 4 for those who pre-order. Xbox One players who pre-order will gain access on July 19. The console beta is due to run until July 21. As for PC players, the beta is set to begin in August.
Included in the Destiny 2 beta will be the game’s opening campaign mission, Homecoming; a co-operative three-player Strike titled The Invertive Spire; and two competitive multiplayer modes, Countdown and Control. In addition, players will have access to three of Destiny 2’s subclasses, Dawnblade Warlock, Arcstrider Hunter or Sentinel Titan.
Countdown and Control will also take place on new maps built specifically for those two modes, Bungie said in a blog post.
For a very short period players will also have access to Destiny 2’s new social area, The Farm, but they’ve got to be quick as it’ll only be accessible for an hour starting 10 a.m. PT on Sunday, July 23. In The Farm most of the vendors will be offline, the idea for the short opening hour is to test how many players can join at once.
Finally, player progression won’t transfer over to the main game, so enjoy your XP while you can.
Destiny 2 launches on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6. The PC version drops October 24.
