I hold my hands up; I’ve only just started playing 2014’s Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor following the Steam Summer Sale.
For those who haven’t played the game, it’s a fun open-world sneaky-stabby-Arkham-fighty kind of game made even better by the inclusion of the now-famous Nemesis system, which generated unique Orc officers with a plethora of specific strengths and weaknesses on the fly, creating plenty of opportunities for emergent gameplay and some great stories as the pair of you follow your own individually progressing paths until you come to a bloody crossroads.
If you fancy having another pop at Olgrath Skullcrusher the Undefeatable in Shadow of Mordor’s sequel Middle Earth: Shadow of War, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced that players will be able to prepare their arch-nemesis from Mordor for transfer to War through the new “Nemesis Forge” system added to the original game.
By launching Shadow of Mordor on PS4, Xbox One or PC and selecting the Nemesis Forge game mode recently added as part of a free update, the Forge will automatically detect both your highest ranking Orc Nemesis and your most loyal Orc follower and ready them for transfer into Shadow of War once it’s released on October 10th.
If all goes to plan this could be a very cool feature – I’m sure there’s no doubt that the Nemesis system will see some expansion in Shadow of War, but there’s nothing quite like a good recurring villain and it’s great that you’ll be able to continue your past feuds and friendships.
Middle Earth: Shadow of War will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 10.
