During Disney’s annual D23 Expo this weekend, Disney/Pixar revealed more information about their upcoming sequel, The Incredibles 2, including the movie’s release date.
Director Brad Bird confirmed today that The Incredibles will be hitting theatres on June 15, 2018. The movie will begin right where the last movie, which hit theatres in 2004, left off and will have more of a focus on Elastigirl. According to Bird, while the timeline hasn’t changed, there will be some notable differences in the way the characters move and appear. This is due to the advancements in technology over the 14 years we’ve had to wait for the movie.
Despite this focus on Elastigirl in the new movie, Pixar’s panel at D23 decided to focus on Edna Mode and her influence on the fashion industry. The new video can be seen below:
Another clip was also shown at the panel, though it hasn’t been released online. This clip showed Jack-Jack and some of his new superhero powers such as laser vision. Concept art was also shown during the panel which shows how the Parr family are coping with Jack-Jack growing up, “baby-proofing” the house.
It’s definitely one we’re all looking forward to.
The Incredibles 2 was set to launch in 2019, but Disney/Pixar announced last year that they’ve decided to switch release windows with the highly anticipated movie, Toy Story 4.
