Crackdown 3’s set release alongside the Xbox One X this November has be shelved by Microsoft Studios. In a move that thins down the Xbox One X’s release titles, the company confirmed the move on Wednesday.
The developers at Reagent Games, Sumo Digital, and Cloudgine plan to use the time to further polish the game. This was echoed by Head of Xbox Phil Spencer on Twitter, the boss stating “We are very committed to shipping Crackdown 3 to the level of quality the fans deserve.”
With other high profile exclusives games such as Sate of Decay 2 also pushed to a 2018 release, this leaves Forza Motorsport 7 as Microsoft’s main AAA title for the second half of 2017. They will surely be hoping that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will be able to take up some of the slack.
While an obvious blow, the lack of crackdown might not have a drastic effect on the Xbox One X, as the talk around 4K gaming has been much more focused around releases such as Forza Motorsport 7, Battlefront 2, and Shadow of War.
Hopefully this delay will allow the developers to give Crackdown 3 the level of polish we all want the game to receive, and build up some more hype around its eventual release.
