Square Enix has this weekend announced that Dragon Quest Builders 2, the sequel to its voxel-building action RPG, will be coming to Nintendo Switch and PS4.
The news came during the Dragon Quest Festival which was held this past weekend in Tokyo, Japan. The sequel will bring a ton of new features to the game including sloping platforms, the ability to create waterfalls, as well as the ability to fly and swim underwater. The flight ability will come thanks to the addition of a hang glider in the game which is set to help players travel their worlds much faster.
Square Enix also revealed that the game will be getting multiplayer too, showing off a small snippet of the new feature which saw up to four players building and adventuring together.
Gameplay was also unveiled, which you can see via the embedded VoD.
Dragon Quest Builders was a strange hybrid of RPG and block building game. It launched in 2016 for PS4 and PS Vita. In our review, we gave the game a 7/10 saying “While Dragon Quest Builders isn’t as deep of an RPG as other games in the series, it’s still incredibly enjoyable.”
The release date for Dragon Quest Builders 2 is still to be determined.
