Mewtwo is Coming to Pokémon Go in Special Raid Battles

Niantic Labs has today announced that Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo will be coming to Pokémon Go soon through an Exclusive Raid Battle.

Earlier today the elusive Pokémon went live in an Exclusive Raid Battle at the Pokémon GO Stadium event in Yokohama, Japan, where thousands of people managed to catch the Pokémon. Now, Niantic have revealed that this Exclusive Raid Battle will be coming to other locations across the globe.

According to Niantic, Exclusive Raid Battles, while similar to existing raid battles, have a few differences, one of which is that they’ll periodically appear in Gyms around the world and can only be accessed via an invitation. These invitations can be acquired by successfully completing Raid Battles at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place.

In an announcement the company wrote:

“Mewtwo is the first Pokémon that Trainers will be able to face in Exclusive Raid Battles, but other powerful Pokémon may also start to hatch from the Raid Eggs found at Exclusive Raid Battles over the next several weeks. Make sure you’re prepared to battle Mewtwo by powering up your Pokémon and battling in raids at Gyms near you!”

Furthermore, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Lugia will be making a return in Raid Battles from August 14 through to August 31.

So there you have it, just like the first ever trailer promised, we’ll all be rushing to locations to acquire the elusive Mewtwo.
