Netflix has today announced that it’s made its first ever acquisition with Mark Millar’s Millarworld and will be producing movies and shows based on his comics.
Mark Millar is probably most famous for his comics Kick-Ass, Superior, Nemesis, Starlight, and much more. Now it looks like these creations will soon be the next stars of a bunch of upcoming movies, TV Shows, and kids shows on Netflix.
“As creator and re-inventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in
recent history, ranging from Marvel’s The Avengers to Millarworld’s Kick-Ass,
Kingsman, Wanted and Reborn franchises, Mark is as close as you can get to a modern
day Stan Lee,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. “We can’t wait to harness
the creative power of Millarworld to Netflix and start a new era in global storytelling.”
Interestingly, Millar is also the creator behind the Kingsman series, which has currently been adapted into two movies, one of which is launching later this year.
A brief announcement video has also been revealed, which you can see via the Tweet below:

While it’s still very early days, Netflix’ relationship with Marvel has produced some pretty fantastic series, so there’s a high chance that this acquisition will also prove to be quite fruitful for the company.
