Rare, the developers behind Sea of Thieves, the indie pirate adventure that let’s you explore, sail and find buried treasure, have announced that cross-play will be a feature included in the game when it’s released.
Not only does the game look really cool, but the unique and open-world concept makes it seem like a really promising game. So it makes sense to make this one a cross-play feature, allowing players on Windows 10 to invite their Xbox One friends over for a swash-buckling adventure… or maybe just to shoot a canon-sized hole through them. Hey, whatever floats your boat.
PC Design lead, Ted Timmins, recently talked about the details of this feature in a post on the game’s official blog. While noting that the team really want to make sure the games balancing was just right, he also went on to say;
“However, PvP between platforms, or more importantly device input, is the big focus point for us as a design team, and already we’ve been working closely with the game experience team to change the way the guns work to be better balanced for cross play.”
Needless to say, it sounds like the team over at Rare are really putting time and effort into this game to make it the best it could be and adventure that friends and strangers can all enjoy together.
Sea of Theives is set to come out on Xbox One and Windows 10 early in 2018. Until then, check out this trailer from Gamescom below and let us know in the comments down below what you think about this newest feature to the game!
