Stan Lee has had the honour and privilege of seeing over a dozen of his creations come to life on the big screen. From the Guardians of the Galaxy to Spider-Man it has been an incredible time to be a comic n3rd. However, Stan Lee feels that one of his characters deserves another shot.
Lee was recently honoured at Disney’s D23 convention. While discussing the event Lee was asked which character he would like to see in a movie. He admitted Spider-Man has been his most popular character, BUT he really wants to see the Silver Surfer get another go.
“He’s the one I want to see more. He’s the most philosophical of all the characters I’ve ever worked on. And I have an idea for my cameo in that one!”
Sadly, its unknown whether we will see him grace the big screen again or not. Currently, the Silver Surfer remains a property of 20th Century Fox, nothing is being done with him that we know of but he’s there nonetheless. Back in 2012 a deal was supposed to be made where Daredevil would be allowed to stay at Fox if Marvel could acquire the Surfer and Galactus. Nothing ever came of this though, and Marvel received the rights for Daredevil which allowed them to bring him to Netflix in the form of his own show.
Acquiring the Silver Surfer and Galactus would be a very smart move for Marvel though, especially with where the story arcs are going in the cinematic universe. The Silver Surfer played a crucial role in the Infinity War. Aside from Adam Warlock, the Silver Surfer will be the biggest character from the source material not included in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
