Broken Lizard has announced that Super Troopers 2, the sequel to the cult classic comedy which was successfully crowdfunded back in 2015, has finished shooting, editing, and post-production and is almost complete.
The comedy troupe announced the news on its website revealing that it has been screening an unfinished version of the movie to test which jokes work. Those in attendance saw the film with unfinished sound and music, and an overall lower quality picture overall, they clarified.
“It’s important to do those screenings before everything is locked in, so we can see what works and what doesn’t, what jokes play and what jokes suck and then make adjustments accordingly,” they wrote. “But at some point you have to stop that process and lock everything in. The sound mix and the color correction mark the end of that process. Both are exciting, not just because they are the final steps, but because they vastly improve the film.”
So that’s good news, right? Well, there’s one little roadblock and that’s Fox Searchlight who are still yet to review the finished product and set a release date for the movie, however when they get the go-ahead, we’ll know.
“That’s when trailers, posters and all the promo materials will launch. It’s painful to wait for this process because we’re dying to share this film with you, but each step takes us closer. Again, we could not have done this without you and we thank you for all of your help.”
Super Trooper 2 raised $4,407,956 during its campaign on IndieGoGo back in 2015. This allowed them to hit plenty of stretch goals including one that’ll see a LIVE BEAR on set. Nice.
