Thanks to a listing in the Xbox Store, we can all but confirm previous rumours and “leaks” regarding Destiny 2’s first expansion.
The listing, “Curse of Osiris”, details a new Patrol Zone, Mercury, Hell yes, as well as new story missions, new weapons and armour, new co-op activities, and new competitive multiplayer arenas. The coolest part though, comes from the description which reads:
“Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian’s journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury. Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student – Ikora Rey.”
Looks like we will finally get to meet this fabled “Osiris” Character, who, up until now, has only been mentioned in lore from the first game.
All of this corroborates a recent article from Kotaku, which detailed everything the Xbox listing confirms, EXCEPT the mention of a second social hub, the Lighthouse. Since the two are nearly identical, I think it might be safe to say we will see this area soon, if not in this DLC then maybe the next. Previously, the Lighthouse was only accessible for players who gained flawless runs in the player versus player Trials of Osiris.
With how impressive Destiny 2 has been so far, hopefully the first DLC will be received better than the Dark Below from Destiny 1.
