The Cyanide & Happiness Adventure Game Smashes Funding Goal

Cyanide & Happiness, the hugely popular comic strips created by Explosm are to be turned into a video game, thanks to a new campaign on Kickstarter.

This campaign follows on from last years highly successful card game, Joking Hazard, which quickly became the second most backed card game released through Kickstarter, reaching over 3.2 Million dollars in funding. The new video game, The Adventure Game (working title) is set to follow suit having already surpassed its initial goal.

The game takes inspiration from click adventure games like The Secret of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango with a Cyanide & Happiness twist. The game looks to also take a few quirks from the recent South Park games, both visually and in terms of content. The game will follow “Cooper ‘Coop’ McCarthy in his quest to keep his head down and make it to graduation without having to deal with an apocalypse.”

The game has already surpassed its initial $300,000 goal and is live for backing until October 5, leaving it in good hands to reach some, if not all of the campaigns stretch goals. It appears that the game will be episodic, with the Kickstarter campaign stating that the first chapter will be available by December 2018. They also state however that they plan to put making the game the best it can be over hitting the proposed release date (game developers everywhere, take note).

The below stretch goals are currently available however some are yet to get funding targets:

The Cyanide & Happiness Adventure game is set to initially launch on PC through Steam, but may well launch on other platforms if the campaigns stretch goals are reached. We look forward to playing out our own sick cartoon fantasies when the game gets released.
