Epic Games’ co-op survival building game, Fortnite, is set to get its own PUBG-style battle royale mode called Fortnite Battle Royale, later this month.
Currently in paid early access, you can’t say that Epic Games isn’t delivering bang for the game’s buck. With updates and new features coming left, right, and centre, the latest update is set to bring a pretty familiar game mode to the action-building game.
Fortnite Battle Royale is a brand new PvP mode coming to Fortnite on September 26. This game mode will come to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC/Mac and will see 100 players being dropped into a giant map where their combat and building skills will be put to the test. Unfortunately no chicken dinners are being offered.
It’s definitely an interesting move considering how Fortnite is primarily a co-operative wave based shooter / building game, however with PUBG taking its sweet time to come to consoles, this may be a legitimate way for players to get a similar experience, plus there’s the added edge of being able to build your own base to hide in which could be filled with traps.
Check out the new mode as well as a few words from Epic Games Worldwide Creative Lead, Donald Mustard:
Fortnite is available in paid early access and this week the game’s Standard and Deluxe Founder’s Packs are discounted by 25%. This offer will last through to September 18. Current owners of the game can play play Battle Royale in the special Public Test which is set to run from now until launch.
