Nintendo’s latest Direct broadcast was full of updates on previously talked about games but surprisingly it was announced that DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will both be coming to Nintendo Switch.
DOOM is a hefty game, weighing in at 50GB, which unfortunately means it won’t all fit on even the biggest Nintendo Switch game card, which only has a maximum capacity of 32GB. The physical version will only contain the single player and no Snap Map content. Anyone who wants to play the multiplayer or use Snap Map will be able download the rest for free after purchasing the physical copy.
Despite the console’s space and hardware limitations DOOM and Wolfenstein will most likely still run well on the Switch. The geniuses at Id are masters of programming and DOOM and Wolfenstein: The First Order are tremendously well optimised, ensuring they can run on basically anything and still look and play beautifully.
This unexpected release is good news for Nintendo fans who felt their previous consoles were lacking in third party support. With Bethesda and Id on board the Switch is looking to be a contender for the hardcore gaming market.
DOOM and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus will be coming to the Switch sometime this holiday season.
