Rockstar have announced that another trailer to their upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on September 28.
It has been nearly a year since we saw the last trailer which promised an Autumn 2017 release. Since then, the game has been pushed back to some point next year, and Rockstar have been rather shy with giving away too many details.
It’s no surprise really; the original Red Dead Redemption was a hit sequel to Red Dead Revolver, a game so forgotten by history that it is even being ignored by the sequel naming system. Red Dead Redemption was effectively Grand Theft Horse, as many at the timed joked, in that it transported the GTA formula into the Old West.
This was a fantastic idea, and the game truly immersed the player in its setting. There is nothing more fun than bringing in cattle rustlers, getting drunk with the bounty money and then gunning down the bartender because he looked at you funny. Combined with the fact that the game had an incredibly moving storyline, it is no wonder that Rockstar want to take the time to perfect Red Dead Redemption 2 so it can live up to its predecessor.
The last trailer we got followed the standard video game teaser trailer formula: a few set-pieces and panoramic views of the game world, some gritty narration about “running” from some unnamed problem, and a bunch of cowboys riding off towards the horizon. Hopefully, this time we will actually get some more concrete details on the gameplay and storyling themselves.
