At The Tokyo Game Show this year, Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV announced that development of the game will continue on into 2018.
Episode Ignis, the upcoming DLC was intended to be the last content addition but the team have decided to keep adding to it. Given the popularity of Final Fantasy XV (it’s sold over 6.5 million units so far) Square Enix wants to give its fans the best experience they can by improving and adding to it. Tabata himself said “Not only are we further investigating characters through additional episodes, if we don’t convey the setting that is the foundation of the world, we won’t be able to convey the characters’ way of life”.
Final Fantasy XV will likely continue to sell like hot cakes, especially given the fact it’s coming to PC some time soon so everyone can play it. This is great news for fans who want to see the world and story expanded but does bring up an important issue. When should the developers release a game?
Should they finish a game before they release it? I bought it at full price on release and was disappointed by it and the fact lots of it was clearly cut or implemented so hurriedly they weren’t done well. I’m intrigued to see it when it’s finished in 2018 and has all the features it was meant to. Let me know what you think about it down in the comments below.
Final Fantasy XV is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One and will be released on Steam in early 2018. There will also be a mobile version available on Android, iOS and Windows devices later this year.
