According to the Financial Times, Apple is looking into moving its original content production over to The Culver Studios.
The report suggests that Apple is planning to chase the tale of YouTube, Amazon, and even Netflix and plans to move production of original content to The Culver Studios, the studio where Gone With The Wind and The Matrix were shot. This move would give Apple the room to hire some top talent from Hollywood, according to people familiar with discussions.
The Culver Studios has a total of thirteen sound stages that are upto 32,000 square feet in size which are suitable for both TV show shoots as well as feature films, though according to the report Apple are mainly looking for office space.
The report also reveals that Apple are currently in talks to gain the rights to a new high-profile drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon that’ll be set on a morning TV chat show. Right now however the tech giant has to fend of Netflix, according to people familiar with discussions.
Apple has recently released a handful of original shows through their Apple Music platform including a take on the Late Late Show with James Corden segment, Carpool Karaoke.
The Financial Times report also suggests that Apple plans to release a new version of its Apple TV set top box during its September 12 event, likely where we’ll hear more about the company’s original TV / Movie efforts.
