Warner Bros. has today confirmed that all proceeds from players who purchase the upcoming Shadow of War DLC which memorialises the late executive producer Michael Forgey, will go to his family.
Last week, Warner Bros. announced that when Shadow of War launches later this year, players could purchase a Forthog Orc-Slayer which pays tribute to Forgey who died last year. However, it wasn’t clear exactly how much of the proceeds of this DLC would go to Forgey’s family.
This caused fan outcry, calling out Warner Bros for keeping some of the profits from the content, as it turns out, Warner Bros was only committing $3.50 from every purchase of the DLC character to Forgey’s family, which apparently only applied to purchases in the United States. What’s more, a handful of states were also excluded from this commitment.
Now, Warner Bros. have spoken out revealing that ALL proceeds from the character DLC will be donated directly to Forgey’s family. In a statement to Eurogamer, the company said:
“Neither Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment nor Monolith Productions will profit from any sales of the Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC regardless of the territory in which that DLC is sold.”
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War will launch on October 10. Donations from the DLC will go to the Forgey family up until December 31, 2019.
