A brand new trailer for the upcoming political comedy The Death of Stalin has been released.
Satirising the absolute mess of the Soviet Union’s regime following the sudden death of the titular dictator, the film has picked an ideal if unusual setting for a comedy film. The movie is headed by political satire Armando Iannucci, the creator of The Thick of It, In the Loop, Veep and pretty much every other satire of the past decade. Iannucci is a truly brilliant comic writer, and his latest project looks to cement his stellar reputation.
The film also has a star studded cast: Steve Buscemi, Michael Palin, Paddy Considine, Jason Isaacs and Olga Kurylenko to name a few. However, the best performance looks to be Arrested Development‘s Jeffrey Tambor’s portrayal of Georgy Malenkov as a bumbling, awkward fool.
The film was already screened at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this year, where it received rave reviews by critics. The film is set to release in the UK on 20 October, so if you are a fan of political satire, comedy, Soviet history, ushankas, oversized moustaches or just watching flashing images on a big screen, you should definitely go and watch The Death of Stalin.
