CBS has just announced that a second season of Star Trek: Discovery has been given the go-ahead. The series will again air on CBS All Access in the US and on Netflix internationally.
Following the voyages of Starfleet, Star Trek: Discovery takes us along on their mission to discover new worlds, and is set 10 years prior to Star Trek: The Original Series.
CBS has reported that the show is driving up subscription numbers for the All Access platform, and that the series has been well received. The first season is sectioned into two chapters, with the final episode of the first chapter set to air November 12. The second chapter is currently set to debut sometime in January 2018.
The announcement of the new series so early into the show’s first running can only be a good sign, and show’s CBS’ commitment to the franchise, and further developing the storyline.
