Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed adventure, Assassin’s Creed Origins, will be the first title to have difficulty settings.
It may come as a surprise to some that there was one difficulty in previous Assassin’s Creed titles, however with Assassin’s Creed Origins, players can choose a difficulty setting depending on how they want to experience the game.
In an interview with GamesRadar, AC Origins director Ashraf Ismail revealed that the game would be the first in the series to offer a difficulty setting and that each setting will cater to those wanting a slightly different experience to others.
“Some people play for the historic context, some people for the narrative, some for the gameplay, and what we felt was by going deeper into the gameplay challenge of the game we’re feeding one part of the audience, but not others so it was a natural step for us to think ‘well, let’s give difficulty settings’.”
Ismail also added that players can change these settings on the fly, and that while the easy setting will make things… well… easier, it won’t “turn off the combat”, and the harder difficulty will offer “more aggressive” enemies.
Ubisoft also revealed that players will be able to explore Assassin’s Creed Origin’s rich historical world void of any combat whatsoever in the Discovery Tour mode coming to the game post-launch.
