Square Enix and Dark Horse have announced they’ll be releasing Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive, a compendium of art and notes from the developers chronicling the tale of the games’ development.

There will be three volumes in total and the first volume will be focusing on the first six Final Fantasy games. According to Dark Horse they’ll contain “over three-hundred pages and collected in a high-quality hard-cover binding“.

We very rarely get an in depth look at the development of games on a scale such as this. I am very intrigued to see what the developers have to say about their old projects. On top of that, Yoshitaka Amano’s beautiful watercolour art for Final Fantasy games is an amazing sight to behold.

Final Fantasy Ultimania Archive will on June 5, 2018 and for a huge hardcover with high quality art it’s a steal at only $39.99 You can pre-order it here.
