Legoland to be Built in Goshen, New York

North Easters, rejoice: we’re finally getting our own, easily-accessible Legoland theme park.

Last Thursday, a planning board in Goshen, New York, approved a site plan to build the $500 million theme park, the third in the country after the Legoland parks in Winter Haven, Florida, and Carlsbad, California. The plans for the New York Legoland feature a hotel and aquarium.

Some residents of Goshen worry that being in the vicinity of Legoland will affect their quality of life, as it may affect property values and everyday problems such as traffic congestion. However, it seems that many of the issues raised have been addressed thoroughly, and the theme park does offer benefits such as massive economic growth for the area.

Goshen is sixty miles north of New York City, and the theme park itself would be built off of Exit 125 of Route 17. At this time, the park is expected to open in summer 2019. A Legoland Community Welcome Center is already open to visitors in Goshen, and their Facebook page posts information about events at the Center as well as construction updates.
