At Blizzcon, Blizzard announced the news fans of World of Warcraft have been waiting for, for years now: World of Warcraft Classic, an old-school vanilla version of their MMO.
The World of Warcraft Classic server comes off the back of the recent cease and desist of the Nostalrius Vanilla Server which had become popular among fans who wanted a core vanilla World of Warcraft experience. Since then, Blizzard have teased that they are considering bringing a Vanilla server back to the game, and now it’s a reality.
Unfortunately other than a novel trailer, we have little in the way of actual information as to how and when players can access the Classic server.
For those who don’t know, this server will contain everything that was in the game prior to 2007’s Burning Crusade expansion. This expansion dramatically changed the game and these changes continued when The Cataclysm expansion launched in 2010. Since then, the game has seen a total of six expansions, with the latest being Legion, which launched in 2016.
Blizzard also announced a new expansion titled, Battle for Azeroth, at Blizzcon this year.
