Pokémon Go looks to still be as popular as ever as earlier this week Niantic Labs set a Global Catch Challenge for players to catch a total of 3 billion Pokémon – in just two days, players caught 500 million and are well on the way to smashing that record.
Niantic Labs kicked off the Global Catch Challenge on Sunday challenging Pokémon Go players to catch a total of 3 billion Pokémon. The challenge is split into three tiers which each unlock their own rewards. Bronze tier is 500 million, silver is 1.5 billion, and gold is 3 billion. If the gold tier is met, players across the globe will have a chance to catch region-specific Pokémon, Farfetch’d.
If you’re thinking that this target might be a little too high, in just two days players managed to catch over 500 million Pokémon.

This means that players will now receive double XP and a six hour Lure. What’s more, there’ll be a heightened number of Pokémon encounters worldwide. Players have until November 26 to complete the challenge, which at this rate might be pushing it.
You can check out all three tiers in the image below. If you’re still playing Pokémon Go, you might want to take a few minutes to head outside and catch more for some of those sweet, sweet rewards.
