Following the news that Fortnite, a game whose Battle Royale game mode has been seen as a direct competitor to PUBG, had 20 million unique players, PUBG Inc. were keen to also share that they’d hit the same milestone.
In a tweet, PlayerUnknown (aka Brendan Green) announced the news also teasing that change is coming.
.@PUBATTLEGROUNDS reached an amazing milestone this weekend, passing 20 million copies sold!
I know a lot of you are frustrated by issues w/ the game but the team is working hard to deliver a truly great Battle Royale expierence for everyone. Bear with us, change is coming!

That change is going to likely come in the form of Version 1.0 which is planned for later this year. Version 1.0 is set to be the launch version of the game that’ll see a number of new features including the ability to vault and climb over walls and onto buildings, a brand new vehicle, as well as a new desert-themed map.
This news is pretty impressive considering PUBG is currently only available on one platform. In comparison, Fortnite / Battle Royale is currently available across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
PUBG is set to launch on Xbox One on December 12, this will likely push the game past 20 million copies milestone even further.
