This new content adds another Uruk faction to the game, named the Slaughter Tribe. Alongside this content, a free update has also been released for the game.
Shadow of War is a sequel to the wildly successful Shadow of Mordor from 2014 set in Middle-Earth. In the games, you play a Talion, a former Gondor ranger who was stationed in Mordor. When Sauron’s orc army reoccupied Mordor, Talion was murdered alongside his family. Not the kind of schmuck to let a little thing like death get him down, Talion was resurrected when his corpse was possessed by the spirit of an ancient Elven lord. Returning from the grave, Talion and the Elf cohabiting his body set off on a quest of vengeance on the servants of Mordor and Sauron himself.
One of Shadow of War’s main features is the many different Uruk tribes featured in the game. These are basically different flavours of orcs found in the game, such as the Machine tribe having the best technology and the Fear Tribe using intimidation tactics. The newly added Slaughter tribe are Uruks with an emphasis on brutality and bloodletting. The Slaughter tribe have unique weapons and fighting styles, and come with their own specific mission types. They are also fully integrated into the Nemesis system, and so expect to see many horrifying Slaughter Tribes Captains populating your game.
As mentioned before, the release of the Slaughter Tribe also comes with free content available to all players of the game. This includes two new two additional mission types, named Endless siege and Rebellion, and an Enhanced Photo Mode, which allows you to showcase your achievements to others much more easily.
