The UK Gaming Charts are in and once again [amazon_textlink asin=’B0744MTW34′ text=’Call of Duty: WW2‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’n3rdabl3-21′ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’9ba2108a-d360-11e7-b196-2dc28fea761b’] is in the number one spot. Unsurprisingly the game has also been crowned king of Black Friday.
What’s being titled as “Black Friday Week”, last week (and even today with Cyber Monday) we saw an influx of sales across retailers here in the UK. This saw various software titles being given huge discounts, though most were part of hardware bundles. According to Chart-Track last week saw “entertainment software” sales skyrocket by 89% with a rise of 53% in revenue making it the biggest week of the year in terms of units and revenue.
This year’s Black Friday was much more successful than last year, though that’s likely due to Black Friday beginning on Monday and lasting throughout the week and weekend at some retailers.
As you might expect, PlayStation 4 bundles were among the top selling, but overall combined sales of PS4 and Xbox One bundles reached a new high. Speaking of hardware, the PS VR did pretty well for itself too with last weeks’ sales being on par with the hardware’s launch and is the equivalent of the past 18 weeks of sell-through for the headset. As a result, PlayStation VR Worlds climbs up to eleventh place in the charts.
As for individual titles, the top three games this week were offered in bundles, including Call of Duty: WW2, FIFA 18, and Gran Turismo Sport. Star Wars Battlefront 2 fell down to fourth place this week followed by Assassin’s Creed Origins in sixth, and Forza Motorsport 7 in sixth. Bethesda’s Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus comes back into the top 10 to seventh followed by Fallout 4 in ninth.
