Call of Duty: WW2 Ranked Play and Headquarters Arrive

Call of Duty: WW2‘s empty Headquarters are no more, Sledgehammer Games has announced, as the feature has now been reinstated and players’ headquarters are now once again populated by random players.

Following the first big weekend for Call of Duty: WW2 – which also happened to be the game’s launch weekend – Sledgehammer Games struggled to keep servers afloat as a higher than anticipated number of players flooded the servers. In an effort to make things more stable they decided to make Headquarters a solo experience. Now, almost a month after launch, Headquarters are once again populated.

In addition to Headquarters, a number of other tweaks have been implemented in the latest patch. The patch notes have been posted over on the game’s Reddit page.

If that wasn’t enough for you, Call of Duty: WW2 Ranked Play has also been added to the game with Season 1 beginning today. Ranked Play will offer 4v4 matches, with game modes varying from Search & Destroy, Capture the Flag, and Hardpoint. Interestingly, the game will include similar eSports settings used for the Call of Duty World League.

These settings include a ban on turrets and Incendiary shells. Some weapons are also being made unavailable such as the Lewis, MG 15, Bren, and MG 42. In addition, some attachments, scorestreaks, and equipment is also blocked. The full list of rules can be found here.

Ranked Play is similar to other competitive game modes where wins count as points which are used to get to the next rank. Every time a loss or a game is ended early, players lose points. The first season, which begins on December 1, will be used for placement. At the end of Season 1 players will be assigned a skill rating which will carry forward to the next season.

In Call of Duty: WW2 Season 2 players will be able to get through to seven tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Masters, and Pro. Rewards will be offered to high ranking players.
