Marcus Sellars has once again taken to Twitter to leak another rumour about the upcoming Bandai Namco event. Having previously said that a Dark Souls remaster will be coming, he now claims that Metroid Prime 4 is being developed by Bandai Namco.

If this is to be believed it may come as unwelcome news to some. Retro Stuidos created the Metroid Prime series and 3 mainline games have all been fantastic pieces of work. When it was announced myself and probably many others assumed Retro Studios would be taking the helm again to work their magic. Recently the Metroid series hasn’t seen great success when handed off to third party developers. Metroid: Other M on the Wii was critically panned and barely resembled a Metroid game in terms of its gameplay and story. Metroid Federation Force strayed even further away from what a Metroid game is, with its focus on 4 player co-op rather than being left alone to explore a huge and threatening world.

As with the Dark Souls remaster rumour we can’t confirm it. Marcus Sellars claims to “know something” but nobody else has any information on the subject. It is a strange rumour to just make up out of thin air though. I’ll reserve any judgement on whether or not Bandai Namco can do a good job with Metroid Prime 4. With any luck, Nintendo won’t let them take too much free reign and go mad with it. I just want to explore beautiful alien planets and solve puzzles in first person again.

Marcus also claims there will be a trailer at the Bandai Namco event and we won’t have long to wait and see if his claims are true. Bandai Namco will be holding their press event on December 15, not long to go now.

I'm not worried about Prime 4 being developed by Bandai Namco, because Kensuke Tanabe (Original producer of the Metroid Prime games) will be working on it. I have faith he'll make it a good one.
