DC Entertainment has unveiled our first look at Hawk and Dove, two of the characters in their upcoming super hero show, Titans.

If I was to describe Hawk and Dove to you, I’d say they were D list heroes, in terms of popularity and recognition by readers and people generally interested in the superhero genre. Not big and iconic like Batman and Superman, not big heroes in the world of comics like Nightwing or Batgirl on the B list. The C list is dominated by the likes of Aquaman and Cyborg.

Hawk and Dove are D list, not because they suck, because honestly unless you’re a comic buff, would many people recognise them? They appeared back in 1968 and have occasionally made appearances as two bickering superheroes as metaphors for how humans need to get along.

Starting out as the tough as nails Hank Hall and his peaceful brother Don Hall, the team structure has changed slightly with Dawn Granger becoming Dove. Their last book was written by Rob Liefeld back in 2011 as part of The New 52 re-launch and was one of the first to be cancelled.

Appearing as part of The Teen Titans, the red and blue avengers will appear in the new live-action adaptation of the long-running comic getting their Batman style body armour. Titans will premiere next year and will appear on DC’s new streaming service and will be based on the adventures of The Teen Titans.
