Deadpool 2 is coming much sooner than previously planned, 20th Century Fox has revealed, bringing the antihero sequel forward to May 18.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that 20th Century Fox has shuffled the release dates of a number of its X-Men movies. As well as Deadpool 2, New Mutants, the upcoming horror movie based in the X-Men universe has also had its release date shifted… by 10 months from April 13, 2018 all the way to February 22, 2019.
This, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is to ensure that Deadpool 2 and New Mutants’ theatrical runs do not overlap in some overseas markets, which makes sense.
Of course, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to celebrate the news:

Another X-Men movie, Gambit, has also had its release date shifted from February 14, 2019 to June 7, 2019 – yes, another delay. The reason for this is likely due to director Gore Verbinski departing the project.
Superhero and space opera fans will now be pleased to know that this shift puts Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story almost a week apart, so there’s no longer a choice between the two.
