The first international trailer for A Wrinkle in Time, based on Madeleine L’Engle’s classic young adult (YA) novel of the same name, is now out.
The trailer gives viewers a better understanding of Meg Murry (Storm Reid) before the more fantastical elements begin. She stands alone during a gym class or recess period, and walks alone in a hallway (although Calvin O’Keefe [Levi Miller] notices her). Things then switch to an office, where the school principal, Mr. Jenkins (André Holland) is admonishing her for using her father’s mysterious disappearance as an excuse. Murry then confronts her mother, who is still hopeful that her husband will return some day.
This trailer also gives us a better idea of what a wrinkle in time actually is: “a way of traveling the universe instantaneously.” Murry is well-acquainted with her father’s work, as is her youngest brother, Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), who is ready to take off to look for him at the first supernatural invitation.
We’re then treated to the different parts of space and time that the Murry children and O’Keefe explore together. Both the good and the beautiful, and the ugly and evil. Even the elusive Murry father, Alex (Chris Pine), makes an appearance in these short clips.

The movie will hit theatres March 23.
