In 2015 Obsidian Entertainment released Pillars of Eternity after its massive success on Kickstarter and now they’ve announced a release date for the sequel, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire.
Set in the Deadfire archipelago, the new game will feature new tropical environments, a wide cast of characters new and old, as well as a completely revamped skill and class system allowing for massive amounts of variety when it comes to multi classing.
Yesterday, Obsidian tweeted that Deadfire will be coming out on April 3 for PC. There’s no word of a console release date yet but given how well received the console ports of the original POE were I’d say it’s likely we’ll see one down the line.
We are happy to announce that pre-orders are open for Pillars of Eternity II: #Deadfire and that the game will launch on April 3rd! Pre-order now to get the Captain's Footlocker and get three awesome items to start your adventure with.https://t.co/L5jddv6yNH pic.twitter.com/F28X0d67Fe

Truly this is a great time for CRPG fans. If you’re looking to get into Pillars of Eternity or other RPGs like it but feel intimidated by their design or just aren’t really sure what’s going on, why not check out our Begginer’s Guide to CRPGs?
And for anyone else who has been putting off getting POE, now’s as good a time as any as it’s included in the current Humble Bundle for just over $7.
