When I first came up with this article format, it was more about fixing stuff that had potential but it somehow went wrong, but if I’m honest, I don’t have a huge problem with Power Rangers Time Force.
I know the franchise is commercially naked and a bit cheesy, but as a sugary Saturday morning TV show, it’s one of my favourites. Although Time Force wasn’t really in my era of viewing, I still enjoyed the bits I saw.
I even saw some people talking about how the show overall was even good enough for prime time viewing… Almost. But how do you get it over the line?
I mean what do you do when a bunch of time travelling cops with superpowered suits end up back in the early 2000s and have to deal with a supervillain who was rejected for being genetically inferior? Don’t worry, I’ve got four ideas to make things more interesting.
The Rangers should time travel
Let’s face it, this Power Rangers series was unique. It wasn’t about giant cars or mecha animals or dinosaurs, these guys were time travellers. Think, Doctor Who meets the Power Rangers, minus the dopey assistants being chased by so lame their kind of scary, or everyone is getting killed by them, monsters.
You could have the Power Rangers blasting them apart as each week the setting is fresh, from the 1970s to the 3070s.
Cameos and sorting out plotholes
It’s always a special moment when different teams of Power Rangers meet. Imagine if Timeforce were in the background for some of the most iconic moments in the franchise’s history.
What if the team did try to stop Divatox’s forces from raiding the Command Centre? What if the Western Rangers did ride again?
Did Timeforce sabotage the Zeo Crystal so the Rangers needed to create the Turbo power? Could they get to the bottom of who the Shadow Ranger was?
It’s worth thinking about.
Setting up the unadapted Sentai
Before Mighty Morphin’ back in the 90s, the Super Sentai franchise had a fair few entries that never got an English adaptation. Wouldn’t it be kind of cool if Time Force met a Western version of Bioman or Jetman?
Maybe there were others who used the Power Coins?
Andros had a team of Power Rangers before the Turbo Rangers, who were they?
The origin of Zordon
I can’t be the only one who was curious about who this wizard was and how the Power Coins came about? I think that’s a two-parter at least.
Can you guys think of a fifth thing? Let us know in the comments!
