Natsume Inc. has done a lot to promote their twentieth anniversary Harvest Moon game, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, already. At the end of last year, Natsume ran a drawing contest for fans, and they’ve already announced a special edition version for the Switch that comes with tons of goodies. Now they’ve just announced a special edition guidebook for Light of Hope.
The guidebook will provide all that’s expected: strategies for raising your farm, guides on how to befriend the locals, and details on the missions in the games. Longtime fans will probably appreciate this, as the games rarely get hard copies of strategy guides: comparing binders of handmade game guides is a large part of fanbase’s interactions.
The guidebook will also have some great extras: a foldout which is a calendar (for the game) on one side and a timeline of the Harvest Moon series to this point. Along with the timeline, there will be a twenty year retrospective on the series. Art from previous games are promised, as well as descriptions of prior games. However, splits between Natsume, the English distribution company which has moved forward with the Harvest Moon name independently, and the Japanese parent company which created Harvest Moon games prior to 2013, does make one wonder how much older content can and will be shown.
There will also be interviews about the Harvest Moon legacy with Light of Hope producer Taka Maekawa, and “others involved with the series,” without specific details of who those people are yet.
A hardcover version of the guidebook and an ebook version will be available. The hardcover version of the guide comes with a code card, so you’ll be able to customize your own digital guide to fit your needs, which will be accessible across any devices that have can connect to the Internet. However, it cannot be downloaded.
The ebook version of the guidebook is only $9.99 and can be preordered off of Prima’s site here. Amazon has the hard copy for $30.79 before shipping and handling, and Gamestop has the hard copy listed at $39.99 on their site.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is already available on Steam, but it will be coming out on the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 on May 29. Both versions of the guidebook will also be available at that time.
